Dr. Sandra Newes (Sandy) is a Licensed Psychologist with over 25 years of clinical experience and a recognized leader in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. She specializes in treating anxiety, chronic stress, trauma, and recovery, and brings a deeply trauma-informed, resilience-focused approach to her work. Dr. Newes was originally certified through the Living Medicine Institute’s Certificate Program and is now co-founder of its clinician training program. She has also completed advanced training through the Polaris Institute, Chacruna Institute, PRATI, MAPS, and others, and is an active member of the Boston Psychedelic Research Group.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Newes is an international speaker, educator, and author on the intersection of trauma, nature connection, and mental health. She is the former Chair of the Therapeutic Adventure Professional Group (TAPG) within the Association for Experiential Education (AEE), and regularly provides training and consultation to therapeutic and experiential programs.
Her work is grounded in a deep respect for earth-based and ancestral healing traditions. She continues to study rites of passage, ceremonial practices, and the wisdom of nature-based and indigenous medicine, integrating these elements into her approach to psychological healing and transformation.
